"Consistently excellent service at my fav med-spa. They treat me like family and I've been frequenting my chosen family's home for 3+ years (pre pandemic and post)

Dr. Bukov performs my Morpheus8 treatments and the pain, swelling and downtime are extremely minimal. Highly recommended 👌🏻"

Branddy S.

"I have been going to Nob Hill Aesthetics for a couple of years now and have had such great experiences. Whether it’s Dr. Bukov or one of the nurses I always feel like I am in good hands. I recently saw Alix for a Morpheus8 treatment and cannot speak highly enough about her! She really took the time to listen and address my specific concerns answering any questions I had. Plus she is so knowledgeable- I will be booking with her again!

Katie N.

"Dr. Bukov and his team provide artful, effective aesthetic procedures with competitive pricing. They work with your budget to create a treatment plan, and they don’t hesitate to tell you when a procedure isn’t appropriate for you. Dr. Bukov has an artistic eye, and gives you results without the overdone “Orange County” look. You’ll look younger and refreshed! These two photos were taken 18 months apart. The first (hair pulled back) is before any treatment with Dr. Bukov. Notice the jowls, general facial drooping, and deep nasiolabial folds. The second is after Morpheus8, Sculptra, and EmFace. I am very happy with my results and highly recommend Dr. Bukov and his tea"

How Is Morpheus8 Different than other Rejuvenation Treatments?

Morpheus8 Relies On:

Combination Technology -
Morpheus8 combines two powerful technologies — microneedling and fractional radiofrequency (RF) — to deliver heat energy deep into the dermis while minimizing damage to the skin surface. This combination allows for substantial skin remodeling, targeting fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and other textural issues, as well as fat remodeling for contouring effects.

Deeper Penetration -
The microneedles in Morpheus8 can penetrate deeper into the skin compared to traditional microneedling devices. This allows for targeted energy delivery deeper into the dermis, which can produce more significant collagen remodeling and fat tissue heating for skin tightening and fat reduction.

Adjustable Depth -
The depth of the microneedles can be adjusted, enabling treatment to be customized for different skin conditions and areas of the body. This adaptability means that both superficial and deeper layers of skin can be targeted as needed.

Colorblind Technology -
Unlike certain lasers, RF energy is not absorbed by melanin, making Morpheus8 safe for all skin types, including darker complexions that are at higher risk for hyperpigmentation from more traditional laser treatments.

Subdermal Adipose Remodeling -
Morpheus8 is capable of targeting the subdermal layers of fat, which can lead to contouring effects that are not typically achieved with other non-invasive treatments. This makes it useful not only for skin rejuvenation but also for body contouring.

Less Downtime -
Since the surface of the skin is not damaged to the same degree as with some ablative laser treatments, recovery from Morpheus8 is typically quicker, with less downtime.

How Does Morpheus8 Work?

Morpheus8 is a radiofrequency (RF) microneedling device, meaning it combines the properties and benefits of both radiofrequency technology and microneedling procedures.

During a Morpheus8 treatment, ultra-thin needles that emit radiofrequency energy are stamped into your skin to create a controlled injury, which, in turn, prompts collagen and elastin production (the two key proteins responsible for skin firmness, tightness, and smoothness).

Many other professional devices work the same way but Morpheus8 is a bit different in that it (1) penetrates the skin deeper than most others, and (2) has a unique "burst" mode that allows it to treat multiple skin layers at once for a more robust collagen stimulation. It's one of the most powerful RF microneedling treatments on the market with some of the most impressive results compared to other treatments.

Is Morpheus8 Safe?

Morpheus8 combines microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy, which are both well-established in the field of aesthetic medicine. It is considered safe when performed by qualified and experienced practitioners like our well skilled and extensively trained Morpheus8 providers at Nob Hill Aesthetics. The treatment has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in dermatological procedures.

Skin Types - It is safe for use on many skin types, including darker skin tones, because the RF energy is color-blind, meaning it does not target melanin in the same way that certain lasers do.

Precision - The device allows for adjustable penetration depths and energy delivery, which can be tailored to each patient's individual needs, enhancing safety and efficacy.

Side Effects - Common side effects are typically mild and may include temporary redness, swelling, and bruising. More serious complications are rare when the treatment is performed correctly.

What is the downside to Morpheus8?

While Morpheus8 is considered a safe and effective treatment for skin rejuvenation, there are some potential downsides to consider:

Discomfort - The treatment involves microneedles and radiofrequency energy, which can cause discomfort during the procedure. Topical numbing cream or other forms of anesthesia are typically used to minimize pain.

Downtime - There may be a period of downtime due to redness, swelling, and potential bruising. While this is typically short, it can last several days and may require some individuals to take time off work or social activities.

Risk of Burns or Scars - Although rare, there is a risk of burns or scars if the device is not used correctly. This risk is minimized when the procedure is performed by a qualified and experienced practitioner such as the team of well skilled Morpheus8 providers at Nob Hill Aesthetics led by Dr. Bukov a top ranked doctor by U.S. New Report with awards such as being his patients' top choice.

Post-Treatment Effects - Some patients may experience temporary acne flare-ups, skin dryness, peeling, or scabbing as the skin heals.

Risk of Hyperpigmentation - Particularly in darker skin tones, there is a risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Pre-treatment with skin lightening agents may be advised for some patients to minimize this risk.

Results Are Not Immediate - The final results can take several weeks to months to become apparent, which can be a downside for those looking for immediate improvements.

Infection - As with any procedure that involves breaking the skin barrier, there is a small risk of infection.

Allergic Reactions - On rare occasions, patients may have an allergic reaction to the topical products applied to the skin during or after the treatment.

Temporary Changes in Sensation - Some patients may experience temporary numbness or changes in skin sensation in the treated areas.

Individual Variability in Results - There can be variability in the response to treatment. Some individuals may not achieve the desired outcome or may require additional treatments for optimal results.

Potential for Inconsistent Results - If the treatment is not performed evenly, it can result in an uneven appearance of the skin. Thus it is important that you receive your Morpheus8 treatment by an exceptional provider like our extensively trained and highly skilled providers at Nob Hill Aesthetics.

Before Treatment Details

What precautions should be taken before Morpheus8?

Consultation - Have a thorough consultation with your Nob Hill Aesthetic's Morpheus8 provider to discuss your medical history, skin concerns, and treatment goals. This can help identify any potential risks and ensure that Morpheus8 is the right treatment for you.

Avoid Certain Medications - Stop taking medications or supplements that increase the risk of bleeding, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and certain herbal supplements, for at least a week prior to the treatment, if approved by your physician.

Skin Care Regimen - Your Nob Hill Aesthetics provider may recommend specific skin care products to prep your skin for the treatment. For example, retinoids and products containing acids may need to be discontinued several days before the procedure to reduce the risk of irritation.

No Active Skin Infections - Make sure you do not have any active skin infections, outbreaks (like herpes simplex), or wounds in the area to be treated.

Sun Protection - Avoid excessive sun exposure and do not use tanning beds for several weeks before the treatment. Sunburned or tanned skin can increase the risk of complications.

Hydration - Stay well-hydrated before your treatment, as good hydration can aid in recovery.

Health Status - Inform your provider of any changes in your health or any new medications you are taking.

After Treatment Details

When will I see my Morpheus8 results?

The results of Morpheus8 treatments, which combine microneedling with fractional radiofrequency energy, typically develop over time and with multiple sessions. Here's what you can generally expect:

Immediate Aftermath - Right after the procedure, there may be some noticeable effects due to inflammation and the body's initial healing response. This is not the final result but rather a temporary condition.

Initial Changes - Some patients may notice an immediate improvement in skin tone and texture within the first few days post-treatment due to the inflammatory response. However, these are not the final results.

Collagen Remodeling Phase - The most significant results will start to become evident after several weeks as collagen remodeling occurs. Collagen production can continue for several weeks to months following the treatment.

Visible Improvements - Typically, patients begin to see more noticeable results around 3 to 4 weeks post-treatment as the skin heals and new collagen is formed.

Optimal Results - The full effect of Morpheus8 treatments is usually seen about three months after the last session. Since the treatment is designed to stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin, the results improve gradually.

What can I expect after my Morpheus8 treatment?

Immediate Post-Treatment Sensation

Redness and Swelling - Right after the treatment, it is common to experience some degree of redness and swelling. This can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days depending on the intensity of the treatment and your skin’s sensitivity.

Warmth or Heat Sensation - Many patients report a feeling of warmth in the treated area, similar to a sunburn. This sensation can last for a few hours after the procedure.

Skin Tightness and Dryness - The treated skin may feel tighter than usual, and some dryness or flaking may occur as the skin heals and regenerates.

Bruising - In some cases, especially if you are prone to bruising, you might notice some bruising on the treated area. This should resolve within a week or so.

Minor Bleeding or Pinpoint Scabbing - Given that Morpheus8 involves microneedles penetrating the skin, there might be tiny points of bleeding immediately after the treatment. Additionally, small scabs can form where the needles were inserted. These typically heal quickly and flake off within a few days.

Sensitivity to Touch - The treated area may be sensitive to the touch for a couple of days post-treatment.

Post-Treatment Skin Care -

Avoiding Sun Exposure - Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun, so it's important to protect it with a high-SPF sunscreen and possibly avoid direct sunlight for a certain period as advised by your Morpheus8 provider at Nob Hill Aesthetics.

Post-Treatment Care - It is important to use gentle, non-irritating skincare products and avoid retinoids, acids, or exfoliating agents for a period following the treatment. In addition, using specific topical treatments, avoiding makeup for a certain time, and staying hydrated are important as well.

Results Over Time

Over the following weeks to months, as collagen production increases, you should see a gradual improvement in skin texture, firmness, and overall quality.

Maintenance Required

Morpheus8 treatments stimulate collagen production, and the results from a full initial treatment course can last for up to a year or sometimes longer. The initial course usually involves a series of 1-3 sessions, spaced about 4-6 weeks apart, depending on the individual's skin condition and the desired outcomes.

Maintenance sessions are often recommended to preserve the results, especially because the skin continues to age. The frequency of maintenance treatments can vary based on individual factors like skin type, age, lifestyle, and how well the skin responds to the initial treatments. Here are some general guidelines:

Typical Maintenance Schedule - Here at Nob Hill Aesthetics, we recommend 1 maintenance treatment session every 6-12 months after the initial series of treatments.

Personalized Schedule - Some individuals may benefit from more frequent maintenance sessions, while others may find that they don’t need maintenance treatments as often.

Assessment Based - Your provider will assess your skin's response to the treatment and help you determine the best schedule for maintenance sessions.

Lifestyle Considerations - External factors such as sun exposure, smoking, diet, and overall health can affect the longevity of Morpheus8 results and may necessitate more frequent maintenance.

Remember, individual experiences can vary, so it's crucial to have open communication with your Sculptra provider at Nob Hill Aesthetics both before and after the treatment to ensure the best outcome and address any concerns you might have.
